There are approximately 88 miles of Town Road. The road crew is Rex Morgan, Supervisor, and Roadmen Keith Emery and Brian Christensen.

Fire Department

Don Hamblin is the Fire Chief of the Town of Hayward Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to the Town, the Fire Department provides service to the towns of Lenroot, part of Hunter, Bass Lake and Stinnett in Washburn County. There are 33 men and women on the volunteer firefighter roster. The department meets on Monday nights for training and equipment maintenance.

Police Department

The Town of Hayward Police Department was established in 2003. Justin Hall is the Chief of Police for the town, he was hired in 2006 as the part time police officer. As of January 1, 2007 he is Police Chief. Chief Hall enforces the Town Ordinances (he is also responsible for the great photos that are showing up on this site!).

Landfill/Recycling

The landfill is located at 14768W Chippewa Trail (click for map).

• The fall/winter hours are:
• Wednesday & Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM
• The summer hours are:
• 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Wednesdays, Saturdays
• 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sundays.
• The fee for garbage is $2 per 33 gallon translucent bag. There is no fee for recyclables.
• Aluminum, glass and #1 and #2 plastics may be commingled. They should be clean.
• Newspapers should be in a large bag or tied.
• Magazines should be bundled separately.
• Brush and grass clippings can be dumped at the compost site.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission meets the Monday prior to the Town Board meeting at 5:30 PM at the Town Hall, 15460W State Highway 77.
